Turkish Bath
A Modern Take on a Centuries-Old Tradition
What Is a Turkish Bath?
The Turkish hammam is a deep-rooted tradition of cleansing and relaxation that has carried through from the Ottoman era to today. It's not just about physical cleanliness — it's also a form of spiritual renewal and, historically, a social gathering place.
At Aren Ankara Massage Salon, we bring this centuries-old tradition together with modern hygiene standards and comfort. Experience the traditional scrub-and-foam ritual in an authentic hammam setting, complete with a heated stone platform and guided by professional attendants.

Our Hammam Experience
We bring every ritual of the traditional Turkish bath to life with professional service.
Heated Platform & Steam
Spend 15-20 minutes sweating gently on the heated marble platform as steam prepares your body. Pores open up and skin becomes ready for the scrub.
Professional Scrub
Experienced attendants gently exfoliate away dead skin with the traditional kese glove, leaving your skin smooth and radiant.
Foam Massage
Rich foam from natural hammam soap is used to gently wash and massage your entire body — a truly cleansing feeling.
Classic Massage
After the scrub and foam, a traditional hammam massage relaxes your muscles and boosts circulation.
Hot & Cold Shower
In the final stage of the ritual, a hot-and-cold shower closes the pores and revitalises circulation.
Rest & Refreshments
After the hammam, unwind in our private relaxation area with traditional Turkish tea and refreshments.
How Does a Hammam Session Unfold?
A hammam session moves through four stages — warming, scrub, foam and rest — and lasts 60 to 90 minutes in total. Nothing is rushed: letting your body adjust to the heat, preparing the skin for the scrub, and cooling down gradually at the end are just as much a part of the experience as the treatment itself.
- Welcome and preparation — You'll be given your own peshtemal (bath wrap) and single-use essentials; change in your private cabin, then, if you like, take a quick shower before heading into the hammam.
- Warming on the heated marble platform (15-20 min) — Lie back on the warm marble and let the steam bring you gently into a sweat. This stage opens the pores and slowly relaxes both muscles and mind.
- Scrub (10-15 min) — An experienced attendant works over your whole body with a kese (exfoliating glove) in smooth, systematic strokes, gently lifting away dead skin. You can adjust the pressure at any time — the scrub should feel rhythmic, never harsh.
- Foam massage (15-20 min) — Rich foam covers the body as long, flowing strokes both cleanse and relax you. Most of our guests call this the most enjoyable part of the whole ritual.
- Rinse and cool down — A rinse with warm, then cool water lets the pores close gradually.
- Rest and refreshments — In our relaxation area, your pulse settles back to normal over Turkish tea and light refreshments. We recommend not skipping these final 10-15 minutes.
First time at the hammam?
Feeling a little unsure before your first session is completely normal. Our hammam runs on a private-use basis: your session takes place in a time and space set aside just for you, not a shared area. The peshtemal stays wrapped around you throughout the session, and strict privacy standards are followed during the scrub and foam stages. Feel free to ask us anything beforehand, whether by phone or at reception.
What Are the Benefits of a Turkish Bath?
A Turkish hammam is, above all, a deep cleansing and relaxation experience: hot steam softens the muscles, the scrub clears away dead skin cells, and the foam massage leaves you with an intense sense of relief. Guests with a regular hammam habit most often mention softer skin, better sleep, and lighter, looser shoulders and back.
- Skin renewal: The scrub physically lifts away the layer of dead skin cells, leaving skin visibly smoother and able to breathe.
- Muscle relaxation: The heat helps ease muscles that have tightened up from a day spent at a desk or on your feet.
- Better circulation: Moving between warm and cool creates a noticeable feeling of vitality and lightness throughout the body.
- A mental reset: 60 to 90 uninterrupted, phone-free minutes — a genuine space to switch off, with only the sound of steam and water for company.
- The perfect warm-up for massage: Since the heat leaves muscles noticeably softer, a massage session booked the same day works even better.
A quick note: the hammam is not a medical treatment — always follow your doctor's advice for any health condition. Please be sure to read the "who should take care" section below.
What Should You Bring to the Hammam?
Short answer: you don't need to bring a thing. Everything — peshtemal, kese glove, towels and slippers — is prepared fresh and single-use for every guest at our salon. That said, here are a few small tips to make your visit even more comfortable:
- Eat something light 1-2 hours before your session; the hammam isn't especially enjoyable on either a full or an empty stomach.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day — since you'll be sweating in the heat, staying hydrated before and after matters.
- Leave jewellery, watches and glasses in your cabin; metal accessories can be uncomfortable in the heat.
- Since the scrub renews the skin, sunbathing or sunbed sessions aren't recommended on the same day.
- Build a 15-20 minute rest into your schedule afterwards — rushing off straight from the hammam dulls the effect of the experience.
Who should take care before using the hammam?
A hot, steamy environment isn't right for everyone. If you are pregnant, or have a cardiovascular condition, blood pressure issue, a fever, or have recently had surgery, please check with your doctor before using the hammam. If you feel weak or light-headed at any point during the session, let our staff know right away — we can shorten the session whenever you need.
Hygiene & Privacy
At Aren Ankara Massage Salon, your hygiene and privacy are our top priorities. All of our equipment is disinfected after every single use with modern sterilisation methods.
Single-Use Materials: Kese gloves, peshtemals, towels and other personal items are fresh for every guest.
Private Cabins: Our hammam operates on a private cabin system. Every session takes place in a fully private, discreet setting.
Professional Team: All of our attendants and staff hold health certification and go through regular training.
Why Choose the Hammam at Aren Ankara Massage Salon?
Guests looking for a hammam in Kızılay and Çankaya choose us for three reasons above all: hygiene, privacy and a complete experience. All textiles and scrub materials are single-use; every session is private; and if you like, you can pair the hammam with massage, sauna or a spa programme to plan a full day of renewal in a single visit.
Our salon is open every day from 10:30 - 03:00, so there's time for a hammam even after work or in the evening. To plan your session and timing, call us — we'll answer your questions and find a time that works for you.

You don't need to bring anything — we provide the pestemal wrap, towels and all single-use essentials. Feel free to bring your own swimwear if you'd prefer.
The classic hammam ritual takes about 45–60 minutes and includes warming up, a traditional scrub and a foam massage. You can extend the experience with an oil massage afterwards if you like.
For most people, once a month is enough; depending on your skin type, every 2–4 weeks is a good rhythm. If you have sensitive skin, space it out further and ask for a gentler scrub.
If you have high blood pressure, a heart condition, or are pregnant, please check with your doctor before stepping into the hammam's warm environment. Let our staff know your situation and we'll suggest a suitable alternative.
Absolutely — we offer dedicated time slots and a female attendant for our women guests. The service is fully private, carried out in individual cabins.
